The vocal music boosters:
Roosevelt Vocal Music Boosters
Roosevelt Vocal Music Boosters is an organization of parents,
guardians and others who support student growth through vocal music at Roosevelt HS. All families of vocal music students are members of this organization. A vibrant Vocal Music program depends
on strong parent support. At Roosevelt our Vocal Music program strives to be accessible for all students who want to participate. Participation fees are kept as low as possible with Vocal Music Boosters providing additional funding for uniforms, transportation and scholarships. We also provide volunteers for events so that our directors can focus on the students and their performance.
There are many ways you can be a Roosevelt Vocal Music Booster:
*Encourage your child’s participation in events and fundraisers.
*Attend concerts and other events.
*Volunteer to help with fundraisers and concerts.
*Be a choir coordinator for your child’s choir.
*Help with communications and promotions.
*Serve on the Vocal Music Booster board.
*Become a Vocal Music Patron.
*Solicit financial support from your contacts in the community.

Fall Raffle
This year is our second year of having a raffle for the Vocal Music Boosters annual fall fundraiser. Last year our students and families raised over $4,000. We hope to exceed that this year. Tamara Elwell is taking the lead on this event as she did last year. THANKS TAMARA!!
The raffle kick-off was at Ingersoll Live on Saturday, August 24th. The Vocal Music Boosters had a booth where students and parents volunteered to sell raffle tickets and concessions. We sold enough tickets to pay for our booth.
We had hoped to sell more tickets but the value of the event was making connections in the community. Our
student volunteers and performers were great ambassadors of the Vocal Music program at Roosevelt high school.
The Chamber Choir sounded great with minimal rehearsal time and our soloists did a wonderful job. We
met lots of “locals” who support our kids. Thanks to all the parents who came out to help. It was a fun time and thankfully we had a shady location!
From Tamara: Well, we
had clear (if hot) weather yesterday. The singers really did a great job,
as did our booth volunteers. I also want to acknowledge the TREMENDOUS
help of the students (and parents) who showed up at 11am and absolutely worked their tails off to help the
Ingersoll Live folks set up the tents. Many of the people on the
committee came to me afterward with a great deal of gratitude...we certainly
earned a spot in their hearts for doing that.
Student Raffle Ticket Sales
Each student is being asked to sell five raffle tickets
which sell for $5 each. Prizes
include a $500 gift card to the Apple Store, a $200 gift card to Best Buy, and a
$100 Downtown gift card which can be used at participating restaurants, shops
and venues in the downtown area.
We welcome additional donations of prizes such as tickets to local events
or gift certificates to local businesses such as restaurants.
If you have items such as these to donate please contact Tamara Elwell at
577-9601 or [email protected] or
the vocal music gmail, [email protected]
.
Some suggestions: If you would like to donate a small
prize that would be easy to get, we suggest that you get a $10 gift certificate
or card to one of our local restaurants that Roosevelt students frequent. This would provide some additional
smaller prizes and would support local businesses that have been generous to us
in the past. You might
consider: La Mie, Juice Company
or the Cheese Shop in the Roosevelt Shopping Center; Friedrich’s or Louie’s Wine
Dive in the Uptown Shopping Center; Bruegger’s, Ted’s Coney Island, Palmer’s or
Zanzibar’s on Ingersoll. If you do
purchase one of these prizes, please turn them in to the directors, Rebecca
Hunt or James McNear. These must
be turned in by October 7th. Thanks in
advance!!
Students must turn in their money and unsold tickets back to their
choir director by October 9th. The drawing for
the prizes will be October 10th.
All are welcome to attend the drawing which will be held in the Vocal
Music Room at 6:30pm. Students who sell all five tickets and want to sell more can pick up
additional packets from their choir
director.
We are also selling raffle tickets at Dahl’s on
Ingersoll and at home football games.
Student volunteers will do these sales. Students who would like to volunteer
for these sales may contact their choir director.
Dates of these sales are:
Home Football Games:
September 13 and 27, October 4
(Homecoming)
Community Day on the Roosevelt Lawn:
September 24, 4:30-6:30
Dahl’s on Ingersoll:
September 14, 15, 28, and 29
There will be prizes for our top-selling students. Students who sell at
Dahl’s and football games will get credit for tickets they sell.
Parents – please encourage your child to sell their tickets! All funds raised go to directly benefit vocal music students and to keep participation fees as low as possible. Thank you for your support!
After two weekends of selling tickets at Dahls, we have brought in $434.50! Way to go to our
fantastic student volunteers!
Kudos from Tamara to those students who have
already volunteered:
Rose Rocha sold 42 tickets and received $38 in
donations BY HERSELF in 90 minutes.
Elli and Chloe showed up at 11:30 for their one hour
shift...and ended up staying with James for an additional hour when the other
second shift student didn't show. The three of them sold 22 tickets and
received $6 in donations - which is pretty great, considering they were
competing with the Roosevelt Football Players, who were also selling activity
passes!
Riley - not even scheduled this weekend, but willingly showed up
when others did not show BOTH DAYS.
Dezmon- willingly stayed an extra hour when the next shift
volunteers didn't show.
Claire and Kyra - agreed to do a later shift on
Sunday when Dahl's overbooked.
